Facebook founder and billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is building a top-secret Hawaii compound with plans for a huge underground bunker

A recent investigation by Wired revealed that Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, is constructing a large underground shelter with a "blast-resistant door" designed to withstand explosions, presumably to endure catastrophic events.

For a while now, Zuckerberg has been expanding his 1,500-acre ranch in Kauai, Hawaii. We've heard about this before, but recent planning documents show that he's building a "5,000-square-foot underground shelter" with its own energy and food supplies. This information comes from the tech blog Wired, which got it from public planning documents obtained through public records requests.

The property, known as "Koolau Ranch," will feature two main houses on the surface connected by a tunnel to an underground shelter. According to the construction papers, the estate is designed to be self-sustaining, having its own electricity, food resources, and a large water tank measuring 55 feet in diameter and 18 feet in height.

Wired noted, “Building permits put the price tag for the main construction at around $100 million, in addition to $170 million in land purchases, but this is likely an underestimate.”

Former contract workers at the ranch shared that all employees were required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

“It’s fight club. We don’t talk about fight club,” said one anonymous former contract employee.

A previous employee mentioned that the strict enforcement of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) was so intense that individuals on-site hesitated to risk taking a photo due to the consequences.

Other extremely wealthy individuals, such as Peter Thiel, the founder of PayPal and Palantir, have either constructed or are in the process of planning underground shelters for catastrophic scenarios in distant locations around the world.
