Feds charge 3 with running high-end brothels allegedly frequented by politicians, military officers, tech and pharma execs

The Justice Department shared on Wednesday that they're looking into politicians, military officers, and government contractors who are being investigated for buying sex through a fancy brothel network in Massachusetts and the D.C. suburbs.

Federal prosecutors in Massachusetts accused three individuals of operating the network: Han Lee and Junmyung Lee from Massachusetts and James Lee from California. The two individuals from Massachusetts were set to make their first court appearances on Wednesday afternoon.

It is claimed that the brothels in the D.C. area were situated in Fairfax and Tysons, Virginia.

The accused individuals supposedly leased upscale apartments, covered the costs of women's travel and transportation, and promoted sexual services with hourly rates ranging from $350 to $600. According to court documents, potential customers were directed to complete forms containing extensive personal details, such as their names, addresses, employers, and, if available, a reference.

The Justice Department is looking into many individuals who might have paid for sex, including "politicians, high-tech and pharmaceutical executives, doctors, military officers, government contractors with security clearances, professors, lawyers, scientists, and accountants." The department didn't provide additional information about these individuals.

Tysons, where one purported brothel was situated, is a half-hour drive from Washington, D.C. It serves as a central area for the technology and defense industries in Washington.

In a sworn statement, a Department of Homeland Security agent expressed the belief that there are "possibly hundreds of customers yet to be identified" who participated in the scheme. The agent explained the use of cell phone location data, physical surveillance, financial records, and interviews with customers to gather information about the alleged network of brothels.

A lawyer representing Junmyung Lee did not respond immediately to a comment request. A lawyer for Han Lee chose not to provide a comment. When contacted by phone, the manager of the Tysons apartment complex mentioned in the affidavit stated that she had no information about the investigation.
